以「Every Time You Go Away」一曲走红的英国白人灵魂歌手－Paul Young（保罗杨），很多人并不知道其实这首歌是翻唱自白人灵魂二重唱「霍尔与奥兹Hall & Oates」的作品，但他们并未曾发行过单曲，而保罗杨以其沙哑与极富深情的歌喉重新诠释此曲，掳获了许多年轻少女的心，并一举登上美国Billboard冠军宝座。

1956年出生于英国的保罗杨，从小就展现出对音乐的喜好，学过钢琴与吉他的保罗杨离开学校后一边在父亲服务的车厂工作一边在酒吧里表演，虽然是弹奏吉他，但他却一直希望可以担任主唱。1979年自组了Q-Tips的八人团，在三年多的巡回演唱生活中，保罗慢慢懂得如何展现自已歌声的特质及建立个人独特的表演风格。1982年Q-Tips解散而保罗也获得了与CBS的唱片合约，得以发行个人专辑。
